I've just arrived from this year KaZantip festival. It is an electronic music festival that takes place on the Crimea beach near Yevpatoria. This year the "KaZantip Republic" has celebrated a 15 years anniversary. I'm excited to be a "citizen" this year as well as 2 years ago.
To enter the KaZantip you must meet either of the following:
  • Own a yellow brief case, specially designed and previously registered on the official web site.
  • Buy a multiple entry visa. This year price is 120$. Two years ago is was 80$ (USD).
Once you're in, you see the stone-hange in the center, the main stage, different bars (like Pirates of the KaZantip sea), the top of the Euro dance floor and the sky dance floor. During the day it looks like Hawaii but when the night comes it gets illuminated and colored like Ibiza!
Everything's great except prices. They're 3-4 times higher than in Kiev. E.g.:
  • A bottle ob Burn on KaZantip costs 5$, in Kiev - 1.8$
  • A bottle of Сhampagne - 10$ and 14$. In Kiev - 6$ and 8$ correspondingly.
  • Roof-kicking drink of absinth, grenadine and sprite - 12$. However one is enough to make your girl hot :)
  • Apartment rent is very high! 1-room apartment per day - 30$. 2-rooms - 45$. Bed rent - 10$/night.
The 98% of people there are from Moscow. The other 2% are Ukrainians and foreigners.
Among KaZantip activities you have options:
  • Dance on 5 dance floors in main area and 3 dance floors on the Mars.
  • Ride a kite
  • Ride a scooter
  • Fly on the aeroplane
  • Ride a carting
A few words about the Mars. This year the president of the KaZantip decided to separate people in 2 categories:
  • Those who pay money and want to seem cool having no taste. (70% of KaZantipeans this year)
  • And those who are true citizens - creative, communicative and have a good taste of music. These guys are allowed entry to the Mars area. Everyone may request and entry which will be evaluated by the Ministry of the Affairs.
Unfortunately the KaZantip was popularized. A lot of people come there because they want to appear cool underground movement participants. Annually true positive people amount is decreased. This is my last KaZantip voyage.
